Short answer
GEO is sold in three ways. Closed diagnoses or audits, paid once. Fixed-scope projects that combine a diagnosis with changes to your website. And monthly retainers. The figures in this guide describe the market we work in, Spain, in euros. There, a closed diagnosis costs €149 + VAT in our case and ranges at other agencies from “free” (as a way in) to several hundred euros; fixed-scope projects run from a few hundred to a few thousand euros; and monthly retainers usually start at several hundred euros and exceed a thousand euros at established agencies. In any market, the price is not set by the tool: it is set by the senior time it takes to turn volatile answers into a plan your team can execute.
The three models
The three models describe how the work is sold, and they help you read a proposal wherever it comes from. The figures are another matter: the ranges above describe the Spanish market, in euros, and are not a guide to prices in other countries. What drives the price, further down, applies in any market.
Closed diagnosis or audit
An agreed number of questions, two or three platforms, competitors, and a report with sources and priorities. It tells you where you stand before you spend on implementation. What matters is not the price but the deliverable: can you see the original answer and the source behind every figure? How many observations are there? Is it repeated on another date?
Our AI diagnosis: 12 questions, 2 platforms, 24 saved observations, up to 3 competitors, 5 priorities and a 30-minute session, for €149 + VAT, delivered in 5 business days. The sample report shows the full format.
Fixed-scope project
A diagnosis plus concrete changes to your website (a technical review, improved pages, one new page) and a final measurement with the same questions. It is the lowest-risk option once you know you want to act: scope, price and date are known in advance.
Our visibility sprint: the diagnosis included, a crawling and indexing review, improvements to up to 3 pages, one new page or guide of up to 1,500 words and a final measurement, for €690 + VAT, in 2 weeks.
Monthly retainer
Periodic measurements, content, competitor tracking, reports and meetings. It makes sense once you have seen what works and want to keep the pace. Always ask about the minimum term: in several offers on the Spanish market, the low price comes tied to a commitment of six months or more.
Our ongoing partnership: 20 questions on 2 platforms twice a month, 2 content improvements, tracking of 3 competitors, and a monthly report and meeting, from €590 a month + VAT, with no minimum term.
What drives the price up, in any market
- More platforms and more questions. Each combination is an observation that has to be captured, saved and reviewed.
- More rounds. Repeating on different dates is what makes a measurement reliable, and it takes time.
- Human review. Classifying each claim as correct or incorrect, and each source as yours or someone else’s, is not something a machine does well on its own.
- Implementation. Writing an honest comparison, or a pricing page that actually answers, is work for someone who understands your business.
- Several markets or languages. Each one is a separate measurement.
What should not drive it up
- A “proprietary score”. A number without the matrix behind it is not worth more; it is worth less.
- A beautiful dashboard nobody opens. If you need one decision a quarter, a report and a new round cost less and do the same job.
- Promises of results. Whoever guarantees you will appear is charging you for something they do not control.
The free audit
Many agencies in Spain offer a free audit. That is legitimate, and useful as a first orientation, but it helps to know that it is a door into a sale and rarely includes full answers, two rounds or an export. Our free review is explicit about this: three questions, two platforms, one reading by email. For the full AI diagnosis we charge €149 + VAT.
How to compare two proposals
Put them side by side in a table with, for each one: number of questions, platforms, observations, rounds, competitors, whether it includes original answers and sources, whether you can export the data, which website changes it includes, whether it measures again, timing, minimum term, total price with taxes and what it guarantees. The cheapest per observation, with original answers and a new measurement, is usually the best buy. The questions worth asking before you sign are in how to evaluate a GEO proposal.
