Does your llms.txt follow the format?
We request your /llms.txt and /llms-full.txt, check the format proposed at llmstxt.org and show you how a tool would read it. No promises: its effect on AI answers is not proven.
What the tool does, step by step
- Step 1
We request both files
From our server we request /llms.txt and /llms-full.txt at the root of your domain, with up to three redirects.
- Step 2
We check the format
A required H1 title, an optional blockquote summary, text without headings and H2 sections with Markdown link lists.
- Step 3
We show you the result
You see each problem with its line, the structure as a tool reads it and, if you have no file, a template to start from.
What it checks and what it cannot tell you
What it checks
- That /llms.txt exists, is served as text and is not an HTML error page.
- The H1 title, the summary, the H2 sections and every link in the lists.
- Badly written links, relative or non-https addresses, and empty sections.
- Whether you also publish /llms-full.txt.
What it cannot tell you
- Whether any AI reads your file. It is not a standard adopted by search engines, and Google says its AI features need no special file.
- Whether the links work. We check how they are written, we do not visit each one.
- Whether the content is true or matches your site. An llms.txt promising what your pages do not say is another kind of inconsistency.

It is not a requirement. Google says its AI features need no special file, and there is no public evidence that llms.txt changes answers. It can help tools that read it.
llms.txt is a short index with links to your important pages. llms-full.txt is a convention some sites use to publish their full content in one file. Neither replaces a crawlable website.
No. Under the proposal only the H1 title is required. The summary helps understand the site at a glance, which is why we flag it as a note.
What your site already says, in short: who you are, what you offer and links to the pages that answer (pricing, services, FAQ). We give you a template if you have no file.
