Citations: the sources AI uses
How to read the Citations screen: which websites and pages AI answers cite, which of them name you, where your opportunities are and how to get mentioned.
In the console: AI search › CitationsOpen in the console
Step by step
- Choose the period, the model and, if you like, a prompt at the top.
- Look at “Top citations” and “Top cited domains” to see which websites AI cites most.
- In the table, “Names you?” is the share of answers that cite that website and also name your brand.
- Press “Boost citations” to see only the sources cited in answers that don't name you.
- Expand a domain to see its cited pages and the “Prompts citing it”.
- Act with “Get mentioned”, “See similar media” or “Find conversations”, and download the table with “Export CSV”.
What each column counts
- Citations: the answers that cite the domain.
- Prompts: the different prompts whose answers cite it.
- Citation type: Social, Wiki, Blog, News, Docs, Review or Web, worked out from the website and the page's address.
What it does not measure and where to act
The mention is checked in the answer that cites the link; we do not assess the content of the linked page. On Reddit and Quora, “Find conversations” takes you to Social mentions; on other websites, “Get mentioned” opens Citation outreach.
