Account and data
MCP and API: your data in your assistant
How to generate an API key, connect an MCP client to your workspace data, what it can read and manage, and how to set up alerts through a webhook or Slack.
In the console: Account settings › API & MCPOpen in the console
Step by step
- Open “API & MCP” in “Account settings”.
- Press “Generate a new key”. Tick “Allow question management through MCP” only if your assistant should add or stop prompts.
- Copy the key right away: it is shown only once and the previous one stops working.
- Press “Copy configuration” and paste it into your MCP client with your key.
- Start with the list_brands tool: it gives you each brand's brandId.
- To get alerts about new conversations, save a Slack or https URL and press “Send test”.
What the MCP can do
Up to 33 read tools: prompts, mentions, original answers, sources, competitors, listening, drafts and reports. With your permission, 4 more to review and add prompts or stop tracking them, always with a preview and your confirmation.
It cannot publish, contact anyone, change your plan or bypass your key's and your role's permissions. You need a platform plan; the setup for each client is in the MCP connection guide.
Webhook, Search Console and permissions
Alerts carry an HMAC-SHA256 signature in the answergravity-signature header; the signing secret is shown once. Search Console connects read-only: we don't store your searches, only the prompts you add. The owner or an admin manages both, and people with access to specific brands do not use the API or MCP.
